About Scenic Stay Guides

Scenic Stay Guides builds practical, field-checked stay guides for scenic places near lakes, mountains, and small-town escapes. We help travelers choose the right home base — not just the right destination.

What we do

Most trip planning starts with a destination. Scenic Stay Guides goes one level deeper: which neighborhood, which side of the lake, which town actually works for your trip? We answer that question — honestly, with field notes and original photography — so you don't waste a vacation figuring it out on arrival.

Each guide in our network covers a specific place in depth: how the stay areas differ, what the water or terrain is actually like, what the listings don't tell you, and whether this destination is right for your specific trip. We write the guide we'd want before booking a place we've never been.

Our destinations

We currently publish guides for four destinations, each with its own depth of coverage:

  • Douglas Lake — East Tennessee's quietest lake, with full guide coverage including stay areas, boat rentals, water levels, and weekend itineraries.
  • Great Smoky Mountains — the most-visited national park in the country, covered through the lens of where to base your trip.
  • Table Rock Lake — Missouri Ozarks, where the lake meets the hills.
  • Branson — the entertainment destination next door to Table Rock.

How we work

Our guides are field-checked where possible — meaning our team has visited, photographed, and taken notes on the places we cover. Where we rely on local research, public sources, or community knowledge, we say so. We don't overpromise verification we can't back up.

We try to write honestly about who a destination is not right for, not just who it is. That's a harder guide to write, but it's the one that earns repeat readers.
